FAQs
Don’t put off problems with your vehicle. We’ve compiled some of our most frequently asked questions to help you easily maintain your vehicle and prevent future problems. If you have a question that’s not listed, please contact us today.
How often should I have an oil change?
Recommended by the experts at Pyle Automotive, drivers should try to change their oil every 3,000 to 7,000 miles or every three months. You can also consult your owner’s manual for your make and model to see the manufacturer’s recommended oil change interval. Trust Pyle Automotive for your next oil change, we make it easy and dependable.
How often should I check my vehicle's fluid levels?
In addition to your engine oil, your vehicle contains many fluids that are critical to keeping your vehicle healthy. Some examples of these fluids include: transmission fluid, brake fluid, engine coolant, power-steering fluid, etc. The levels of these fluids can be affected by not only how often you drive but by extreme temperatures as well. It’s a good practice to check the levels of these fluids regularly. At Pyle Automotive, we recommend checking your fluid levels during your oil change or at least once a month or every couple of months.
How often should I change the air filter?
On average, vehicles have two filters; one for the engine and one for the cabin. If the filter is dirty it can impede airflow and the engine’s ability to expel hot air. The frequency at which you change an air filter can vary, but the general time frame is about 30,000 miles.
How often should I replace my vehicle's brake pads?
On average, brake pads start to wear out at about 20,000- to 30,000-miles. If you begin to notice signs that they are no longer performing at their full capacity, such as a high-pitched screeching or grinding sound when applying the brakes, or taking longer than normal to stop, it may be time for a replacement.
How often should I replace my battery?
The standard battery should last three to five years, however external factors like hot or cold temperatures can have an impact. As a responsible vehicle owner you’ll want to be mindful of any signs that your battery power may be waning. If your headlights and dash lights begin to dim, or if you find that your vehicle has a difficult time starting, these are clear signs of a dying battery.
