Belts
Fan belts, also known as drive belts, are part of your car’s engine, and they link the engine to the accessories towards the front of the car. Fan belts are vital to the engine as they are responsible for the rotation of the water pump and engine fan. Both of these pumps and fans work to keep the engine and the major components of the engine cool. Belts in a car will eventually wear down and dry out as will all parts of a vehicle and fan belts are no exception.
Don’t go to just any service center to have your car’s belts replaced, have it done at Pyle Automotive instead. We offer free inspection of the belts in your car, the replacement of all worn out belts, and the exact adjustment of the new belts. Come to Pyle Automotive today!

How often should oil filters be changed?
Check your owner’s manual to find out the oil filter replacement interval for your car. Some manufacturers suggest changing your oil filter every time the oil is changed, and some suggest every other oil change.
What are the three types of oil filters?
- Cellulose media filter – this type of disposable oil filter is the most common one found in today’s automobiles.
- Synthetic media filter – it’s made of high-quality synthetic fibers that can catch and remove the smallest particulates and it can also withstand complex chemical reactions.
- Micro glass media filters – these are a high-end oil filters that use a very fine metal media or micro glass material.
What should I do if my car leaves a small oil leak on my driveway?
First, if you happen to spot the oil spill while it’s still wet, immediately cover the stain with a substance that can effectively absorb the oil. This could be clay cat litter, sand, cornmeal, cornstarch or baking soda. All these materials have a high absorbent capacity, which means that they can soak the oil before it seeps into the cement. Sweep up the absorbent material after the spill has completely dried. The last thing to do is to cleanse the surface of the remaining stain with water and soap. It’s important not to ignore an oil leak on your driveway, even a small one. It’s a sign that something is wrong with your car and at Pyle Automotive we can find out what’s wrong with it. If you don’t pay any attention to an oil leak your car’s engine can get severely damaged.
Why is my car leaking a sweet-smelling fluid?
A sweet fluid leaking from your car is most likely coolant or anti-freeze. It is important to get this leak taken care of soon because this can quickly lead to an even bigger problem. If the coolant/anti-freeze is too low, your car can overheat and can damage your engine.
Why are my windshield wipers not working properly?
The windshield wipers on your car are very important to your safety when driving. It is very common for your wipers not to turn on because you have a blown fuse, which we can quickly and cheaply replace for you. However, sometimes, the problem could lie with an electrical issue within the control arm or the wiper motor itself. If your windshield wipers aren’t clearing your windshield properly, this is most likely due to your wiper blades being worn out or torn. The wiper blades are made out of rubber and are under a lot of stress while performing their job and, therefore, should be replaced regularly. Leave it to the professionals at Pyle Automotive to have these problems fixed in no time.
Why do my wheels chirp when I accelerate?
One of the most common reasons your car makes a chirping or squealing sound from the wheel when accelerating is a bad wheel bearing. If your wheels are chirping it may also sound like a grinding or grating noise is coming from your wheel. This is due to your wheel bearing about to go out on you. If you are in Salt Lake City, South Salt Lake, Millcreek, Canyon Rim, or in the surrounding areas we invite you to stop by Pyle Automotive. Our experienced technicians can quickly identify the problem and have it fixed so you can get back to your daily commute.
Why does my car squeal when I start it in the morning?
A common noise to listen out for is a squealing or rattling noise when you turn the engine on. This can be a sign that your cambelt, also known as a timing belt, is worn out. Listen out for different sounds from a high squeal to a low rumble or a high-pitched hiss when you turn on the engine. Do not ignore this noise as it could be your cambelt crying out for help. A cambelt that is worn out is like a time bomb waiting to go off. If the cambelt breaks then the chances are high that it will damage your engine beyond repair. Don’t risk your safety or your car. Come and visit Pyle Automotive, our professional technicians can quickly and easily replace the old cambelt and help you avoid a potential disaster.
Why does my car make a noise when I turn the steering wheel?
If you have noticed that there are clicking sounds or noises coming from your car as you turn the steering wheel, then the most common cause of this is low steering fluid. Steering fluid eventually dries out which allows air to get into your steering, and this is what causes the noises. Don’t worry at Pyle Automotive, we can quickly fix this problem for you. We will refill your steering fluid tank with quality power steering fluid and the noise will quickly go away. If, however, you continue to hear the sound after a few days, there is a chance that you could have a steering fluid leak. Don’t worry, our experienced team at Pyle Automotive in Salt Lake City are only a phone call away and can quickly fix any leak for you at an affordable price.
