FAQs
Don’t delay. Service your vehicle today. To help you service your vehicle and prevent problems from developing, below are answers to many of the questions our technicians are asked. If you still have questions, please give us a call today.
Can I use synthentic motor oil in my vehicle?
Synthetic motor oils are designed to perform better than conventional oils under a wide variety of specific engine types and operating conditions. For high-output, turbocharged or supercharged engines, synthetic motor oils provide superior lubrication and heat reduction.
When is it time to change my car's fuel filter?
Regular maintenance is a very important part of vehicle ownership if you want your car to last and perform well. Replacing your car’s fuel filter is one very important service that will protect your engine. A fuel filter removes impurities from your gas before it enters your engine. It is recommended that you replace your car’s fuel filter every 30,000 miles. Check your car’s owner’s manual for the maintenance schedule for your specific make and model. Maintenance requirements vary depending on the make and model of the car.
Is it really necessary to change my timing belt at the interval recommended in my vehicle's manual?
YES. A properly timed engine is an efficient engine. In many engines, when a timing belt fails, it can cause major engine damage because the camshaft and the crankshaft rotation must be synchronized for valves to open and close at the proper time during each cylinder’s intake and exhaust strokes. If it fails, the synchronization will be lost and engine performance will suffer. Because of this, it is far more expensive to repair an engine with a failed timing belt than to do a simple timing belt replacement.
Does my car really need premium gas?
You’ll want to check your manufacturer’s recommendations. If you own a luxury car that requires premium gas, you should not use a lower octane gas in your car. Doing so could cause serious damage to your engine. The main problem is that when using regular gas in an engine that requires premium, the fuel and air mixture in the engine’s cylinders will be detonating in more than one place at a time. This condition is known as engine knocking. If it is severe enough, it can damage internal components of your car’s engine. What’s worse is that this kind of damage is usually not covered under the manufacturer’s warranty.
