FAQs
It’s critical to address issues with your vehicle as soon as they arise. In an attempt to help you maintain your vehicle and prevent problems, here are answers to some of our most frequently asked questions. If you have a question that is not addressed here, please contact us today.
How often should I change my transmission fluid?
The most common transmission fluid change intervals all vary by a fair amount. This is because the different recommendations are based on your unique driving style and the conditions under which you operate your vehicle. This can make it hard to know which recommendation is the best one for your vehicle. For automatic vehicles, the majority of manufacturers will recommend changing the transmission fluid every 100,000 miles or so, but professional mechanics will advise every 30,000 to 40,000 miles for best safety and performance. For manual transmission vehicles, the majority of manufacturers will recommend changing the transmission fluid every 60,000 to 100,000 miles, but professional mechanics will advise every 30,000 to 60,000 miles. Consult your vehicle’s owners’ manual or Pyle Auto for guidance.
What are the signs my transmission is going bad?
Common signs include slipping gears, delayed shifting, grinding or shaking, burning smells, warning lights, or fluid leaks.
What’s the difference between a transmission flush and a fluid change?
A fluid change replaces only part of the fluid, while a flush removes nearly all old fluid and contaminants. Not all vehicles are good candidates for a flush.
Can I drive with transmission problems?
Driving with transmission issues can cause further damage and lead to costly repairs. It’s best to have it inspected as soon as symptoms appear.
Is it better to repair or replace a transmission?
This depends on the extent of the damage, vehicle age, and cost. Minor issues can often be repaired, while severe damage may require a rebuild or replacement.
